Debbie Hodgkiss has over twenty years experience in dog behaviour and training. Her interest in animal behaviour began when she was nursing in a Manchester veterinary practice. She trained with the British Veterinary Nursing Association and then at the Northern Canine Behaviour Centre.
Debbie has continued to take accredited courses with Sarah Whitehead (Clever Dog Company) in different aspects of canine behaviour and training, thereby acquiring new knowledge of theory and practice. In 2007 she studied for her teacher training certificate.
Following an introduction to Bach Flower Remedies and appreciating the benefits they offered pets Debbie went on to qualify as an Animal Bach Practitioner in 2001. Her studies at the Natural Animal Centre in South Wales provided her with an in-depth knowledge of animal behaviour and welfare.
Debbie's expertise is not just limited to the canine world; she also sees cats, horses and rabbits with a variety of behavioural issues. However her work is predominantly with dogs and for the last six years she has worked with the Dogs Trust in Merseyside. Bach Remedies help many of the traumatised rescue dogs cope with their situation in kennels.
Debbie is a full member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers. The APDT assess all members according to strict criteria which ensure they have appropriate skills to teach dog training.
To ensure Debbie can offer the best possible instruction she regularly attends conferences and training courses continually updating her knowledge of both advanced pet behaviour therapy and new training methods.
Debbie lives in Kirkby Lonsdale, Cumbria with her two dogs Cassie and Millie, and Henley the cat.
